Bienvenue to Rendezvous en Français.
My name is Sandrine and i will be your french coach.
I come from the South West of France, a town called Pau, an hour away from the Pyrenees Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean.
When i arrived on the Australian soil two decade ago, i had to manage the hurdle of speaking a foreign language, the main mean of immersion and integration.
It is fascinating to realize that all i’ve learnt at school was poorly effective. I could barely understand. I managed to speak as it was the only thing i could control: i knew my english grammar, i had a large knowledge of the english vocabulary and yet, that wasn’t enough. To interact, you have to understand and be understood to communicate.
I figure out ways to navigate between my french native language and the newly acquired english language.
Fifteen years ago, i started Rendez-vous en Francais. It’s my way to share my appreciation and knowledge in the French language and to invite you to be immersed in its culture.
My tuition method is inspired from my own learning of a foreign language. I tailor each tuition to the need you have and i work with you to achieve your goals. I will help you improve, point the mistake(s), correct them. Grammar is great, but not sufficient. Every french student has been educated to know the french grammar and conjugaison. But coming from an Australian, USA and probably British background, the way to address grammar and sentence building is quite different. So from my experience, it is not worth our time to insist on something that will not help you speaking french. It can help, but to me it is not what’s most essential. From my perspective, learning grammar is a book away. My learning will be structured so i give you the tools to progress without the constrain of complicated rules and their exceptions. It is having fun, discover, enjoy ourselves while learning.
Rendezvous en Français is a step closer to France. It reaches out to all with a particular interest and enthusiasm to French things, from learning the language, to travel and finding french products and produce.
My background lead to a genuine ability to teach and find the right method to adapt the french tuition to each learner.
For anyone curiosity, i post regularly on social media and on this blog interesting stories, films, articles. The key is the more you immerse yourself in what you decide to improve or learn to more you will be better at it.
